Bus Info

 

The Shelton Board of Education accepts its responsibility for transporting its students to and from school in a safe, healthy and efficient manner.  It expects its students to conduct themselves in a manner to make such transportation possible.

The Board expects its bus drivers to insist upon proper behavior from their students.  School administrators shall cooperate with the bus drivers in order to accomplish this.

At the beginning of each school year, principals shall inform parents and students of this policy and its regulations.

In the event of school bus problems before or after school hours, Landmark Transportation may be contacted at 203-922-1229.

  • Any behavior of a student which represents a danger to the health and safety of those riding on the bus must be reported immediately to the Principal involved and the Manager of the bus company.  Misbehavior of a serious nature may result in suspension of the student's bus riding privileges.  This clause should serve as a catch-all covering incidents such as snowball throwing, refusing to sit down, fighting, harassing other students, etc.

  • Any student smoking on a bus will be suspended from riding on the bus for five (5) consecutive school days and a bus conduct form is to be mailed to the parents or guardians explaining the situation and actions for the first offense.

  • Damage to the school bus will be paid for by the parents of the student/s involved.  Additionally, any student/s apprehended damaging a school bus will be suspended from riding on the bus for five (5) consecutive school days an a bus conduct form is to be mailed to the parents or guardians explaining the situation.

  • Foul language will not be tolerated.  If a driver reports an individual for this offense, a bus termination notice will be sent to the student's parents or guardians, informing them of the situation.

  • Any suspicion that alcohol or drugs are being used by anyone entering or aboard the bus, must be reported by the driver to the Principal and Bus Manager.

  • All violations of rules will be reported on Bus Conduct Forms.  Copies of the form are to be distributed as follows:

    1. Parent (white)

    2. Bus Company (pink)

    3. Administration (yellow)

  • All students will be picked up and dropped off at their scheduled bus stops.
